Nobody wants to think about losing their independence as they age. We all hope we will be able to stay in our homes, take care of ourselves, and remain vibrant and strong until our final days. We don’t want to think about assisted living - not for ourselves and not for our loved ones.

But sometimes we must.

Jennifer and her staff at The Heathers take away the fear and anxiety associated with this transition. They do this through a level of compassion that is difficult to find at other facilities. From the moment you meet Jennifer for an assessment and introduction, to the day you move your loved one in, the experience feels different. Because it is different.

The owners had the vision; Jennifer and her staff bring that vision to life. The Heathers is a community where every resident is treated with the dignity and respect we all wish to receive for ourselves. It looks and feels like a home, not an institution. But don’t take my word for it - go see for yourself.

We were struggling with our mom’s Alzheimer's and the assisted living facility where she had been residing. She was not getting the care that she needed. At The Heathers, they asked us a lot of questions about her likes, dislikes, hobbies, and our family. They take care of ALL of mom. Not just her basic needs, but the whole person inside and out. We are so grateful for the staff at The Heathers and the wonderful, heartfelt care that she is receiving there.

The people here are absolutely amazing!! My mom came to them but sadly and unexpectedly her illnesses progressed quickly. She lived there less than one month. However, she was treated with the utmost care and like she was one of their own. Everyone from the directors to the kitchen staff, will care for your family member as if they are a family member of the staff who work there. The communication with family is exceptional, too!

My mother moved to The Heathers for respite after I injured my back caring for her at home. From my first desperate call to Kathy, I was immediately put at ease. Our biggest concern was that my mother no longer communicates in English — French is her native language. The staff went above and beyond, posting English-to-French translations throughout the home and communicating through gestures and body language. What I feared would be a difficult transition turned out to be the best of both worlds. My mother is thriving, social, and has never once asked to go home. I get to be a daughter again. I would recommend The Heathers without question.

After looking at several locations near our house we decided on The Heathers.  This was going to be a difficult transition for my mom and everyone at The Heathers has been amazing.  The kindness and attention to detail they have shown to her is beyond appreciated.  The homes are modern, clean and roomy.  It feels like a bed & breakfast for seniors.  Bravo!!

A place that cares for seniors should be 3 things:

  1. Be fewer than 20 residents
  2. Be family owned
  3. Should be family centered and oriented

The Heathers achieves each of these criteria to a remarkable degree surpassing other competitors we toured.  It is truly an excellent home with caring and wonderful people.

Our mom moved into The Heathers Senior Homes in December 2022 and it has been truly a blessing.  The home is beautiful and the attention to detail and design provide a safe environment while still very warm and homey.

The caregivers, nursing staff and the rest of the folks are all wonderful and mom always says how nice everyone is.  They communicate and keep us updated and send pictures of mom.  They have great activity schedule and fun-themed meals/days.  Mom always looks nice and especially loves that they do her nails every week.

The Heathers has taken off the care giving responsibility and let us be a family again.  Visits with mom are great whether we hang out at the home, go to bingo or run to the store.  Our situation was difficult as we moved mom from Arizona to Illinois and I was always worried if I made the right decision...I don't wonder anymore because mom is thriving.

We had our mom at 3 other places.  Nothing compares to The Heathers.  The staff took care of her as if she was their own.  The house is well maintained, clean and really is homey compared to the "big" places.  We cannot say enough about the care she received and the trust we had in the staff.

I have been a resident with my wife since last year.  What I appreciate the most is the individual attention of each member of the staff gives to each resident.  The home is great and any requests are immediately responded to.  The food served is excellent and well balanced.  We toured and looked at seven different homes before choosing The Heathers and this is the best place for us.

My brother, Mike has been living at The Heathers for 3 months now and we could not have found a better place for him to be.  The warm home environment and the caring staff they have make him feel like he never left his house.  It truly is a family environment and they make everyone feel right at home.

In anticipation of the Ringwood-based home opening for occupancy, The Heathers have been caring for my 89 year old mother. We are proud to say she will be Resident #1 in the home! During this time their caregiver has given amazing care and Mom just loves her. We have also had multiple visits by owners, management, and medical staff. In conjunction with a visiting Advocate nurse, The Heather’s staff has been able to turn around a Stage 2 pressure wound in record time! They also are super diligent about making sure that the various treatments align with the medical situation... My Mom reacted poorly to a new medication prescribed by her primary care physician who had not seen her in 8 months. The Heathers care partner sounded the alarm and convinced Mom to give up the medication. The new medicine was obviously messing with her entire system. The Heathers Care Partner brought in their Lead Medical person for confirmation and worked with me (the family) on the next steps.

I had the pleasure of attending an open house at The Heathers Senior Living. I have to say that I was more than pleasantly surprised with my emotion. I have been in this industry for over 25 years and have been marketing to senior living facilities; independent, assisted and skilled nursing. I have come to not set my expectations very high regarding atmosphere and care.
I say my emotion overcame me because I was greeted by a village of family members. This is a family run and operated business. The concept I learned surrounding the idea behind opening the Heathers was built on their grandmother being in an independent facility. There they had a good experience but felt it lacked the “family atmosphere”. This is what The Heathers has definitely fostered.
The buildings are well rounded. The atmosphere is warming and serene. I would recommend The Heathers because for me I feel like it is “La Familia-a place I can call home."
